I’ve been basking in the happiness and blessings God has showered upon our family of four with the move and transition to our new home and ministry. The countless unknowns are becoming revealed and are better than we could have ever imagined – special people, places and spaces God has put into our lives. WithinContinue reading “thread of sadness”

adoption anniversary
Eight years ago, we became a forever family. Today, I reflect on all the planning, emotions, appointments, paperwork, counselors, therapists, doctors, friends, family and prayers that played a part of this blessed event. We thank God for each day we have together and pray that the four of us remain rooted in Christ always.
factor v & reflux
Shortly after we arrived in Alaska, I began to feel pain in my right leg. As the days passed, the pain increased. When I couldn’t bend my leg, I discovered a hard lump behind my knee. My concern grew as I have Factor V Leiden which is an inherited blood-clotting disorder due to a mutationContinue reading “factor v & reflux”
2018 reflections
The last day of the year. Our family’s 2018 was full of adventures. Roadtrips, family & friend visits, birthdays & wedding celebrations, multi-language work in Latin America, a move from the desert to snow covered mountains, three homes in three months, new congregational ministry, new faces & places, earthquake, dust, snow, wildlife and many thingsContinue reading “2018 reflections”
feliz navidad
In 2018, the four of us celebrated the Savior’s birth with our church family in Anchorage on Christmas Eve and Day. Both my husband and I have lived in different parts of the world for the past 20 years. We have celebrated holidays with our parents and/or sibilings a handful of times in the pastContinue reading “feliz navidad”

I set out with the best intentions to enjoy my hot latte and then the requests begin. “Mommy, can you read me a story? Another one.Continue reading “no more iced coffee”
2 x 4’s
Yesterday, our lil’ Sweet Pea turned four! She is a princess in every way, but also carries a few traits of tomboy with her avid love for adventure and discovery. She recently pointed outside during the first (and only so far) fresh snowfall and told me, “There is my home, in the snow!” On herContinue reading “2 x 4’s”
treatment
After 13 days of quarantine, all the red spots from Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) disappeared! Many friends and family didn’t know what HFMD is or what to do. This diagnosis was new to us as well. I spent hours searching websites, reading blogs and talking to other mommas. CAUSE The Centers of DiseaseContinue reading “treatment”
quarantined
On our 12th day in Anchorage, Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) visited our family. We were putting our little ones to bed and I found 25 red bumps around our son’s (aka “Big”) face. Our daughter Sweet Pea complained about having a sore “neck.” That was the beginning of a long night full ofContinue reading “quarantined”
